Tour of the Jewish Quarter, Casa Adret, La Sinagoga antigua museum and exclusive access to the old archives in the Cathedral of Barcelona.

A truly unique experience.
Since the Middle Ages, the Archive of the Cathedral of Barcelona has preserved thousands of documents containing the history of the city. A significant part of these relate to the Jewish community of Barcelona, which shared its daily life with the Christian community since the 9th century. Thanks to a collaboration between Mozaika and the Cathedral of Barcelona, researchers found previously uninvestigated documents that help reconstruct the lives of those who lived in the Jewish quarter and have been brought to light for the first time in history.
In this tour you’ll enter an area of the Cathedral, not accessible to the general public, and have a private viewing of unique Jewish documents that have been hidden for centuries, now on display in the Cathedral’s original 16th century archive. You’ll stand where the King and noblemen once stood, and have a privileged architectural view of the interior.
Once visiting the archival documents, we will walk through the old Jewish quarter, El Call, where we can deconstruct the story of the documents further, exploring Barcelona’s Jewish Community during the 11-14th centuries, key locations of buildings, significant figures of the time and the impact of the inquisition. We also have exclusive access to Casa Adret, where you will learn the origin of the house, the previous Jewish owners, the medieval and current architectural structure and more about Mozaika, the Jewish cultural platform and its presence in the house. It’s a truly incredible way to gain insight of life in Jewish community during the Middle Ages
