Rumours, Secrets and legends
Uncover hidden corners, forgotten voices, and renewal in this 4 hour tour of Jewish Barcelona.
Deep Dive into Jewish Barcelona: Rumours, Secrets and legends
This 4 hour experience goes beyond the highlights of Barcelona’s medieval Jewish quarter, taking you deep into el Call major and el Call menor. Along the way, you’ll trace the lives of conversos, explore “rumours” hidden in shopfronts and streets, and uncover the secrets of Jewish Barcelona that remain invisible without a trained eye.
Your journey begins at Casa Adret, where you’ll enjoy exclusive access to its atmospheric medieval patio and ascend to the rooftop for sweeping views of Montjuïc and the cathedral—two landmarks deeply tied to the Jewish story. From there, we explore the intertwined lives, legends, and legacies of the community that once thrived here.
This tour brings history to life through taste and encounter: sample artisan treats while discovering its unexpected connection to the Inquisition, step into a church that once served as a synagogue, debate the rumors of the mythical mikve, discover the lives and voices of Jewish women, revealed through documents and manuscripts that tell stories often overlooked in the historical record. When available, we’ll meet today’s Jewish community—with the option to add a kosher wine at the Chabad shop. We will end the tour at the iconic Boqueria market with Shani’s famous kosher falafel.
By joining this journey, you gain privileged access to places no other tour can offer—while supporting Casa Adret and its cultural projects that keep Jewish Barcelona alive today.
